    The Summer 2012 Professional Intensive

    By ICAA

    August 23, 2012

Our 2012 Summer Professional Intensive reached its conclusion on the 28th of July with a delightful public reception, as well as a rousing open studio in which students proudly presented the fruits of their instruction and creative labor.

This year's program saw nine participants of diverse backgrounds, from four states outside of New York, and from South Korea, come together at the ICAA for a marathon, ten-day intensive.  Among them were experienced architects, artists, and interior designers, recent graduates in architecture and fashion design, and scholars and enthusiasts of the classical tradition. The program commenced with an excursion to Bryant Park, where ICAA and BAA instructors Michael Djordjevitch and Marvin Clawson presented the Design Problem that would frame the ten-day long intensive: a redesign of the Northwest corner of the park, where two small pavilions currently sit astride the entrance.

True to custom, as with past intensives, this year's participants, their friends and family, and the staff and faculty of the ICAA together celebrated the program's completion with a vernissage and closing reception.

A jury consisting of Joel Pidel (Instructor at the Beaux-Arts Atelier), Domiane Forte (Instructor at the SoCal Chapter of the ICAA), and Stefanie Mustian (ICAA Fellow), presided over final presentations, and acknowledged the projects of three students in particular, for their exceptional quality:

    Robert Sell (1st Place)

    Silvina Leone (2nd Place)

    Patrick Webb (3rd Place)

The ICAA, its instructors, and its staff, would like to extend its most enthusiastic congratulations to all those who completed the Summer Intensive! We wish the students the best of luck, and hope their experience with us this past summer serves them well in any future endeavors they pursue.

    Juwon Eom (South Korea)

Erik K. Evens (Marina del Rey, CA)

    Kathryn Garrison (Jacksonville, FL)

    Rebecca Joslow (New York, NY)

    Silvina Leone (New York, NY)

    Robert Sell (Fort Worth, TX)

    Enzo Selvaggi (Garden Grove, CA)

Victoria Vento Brickley (New York, NY)

    Patrick Webb (Los Angeles, CA)
