The Architecture of Place: In Conversation with Robbie Kerr

    By ICAA

    April 22, 2026

The Architecture of Place: In Conversation with... is a series of interviews between design practitioners, scholars, and educators. The latest iteration of the series, from February 2026, features architects Robbie Kerr and Kate Chambers Beck and sculptor Clunie Fretton.

In this three-part series, each speaker alternately serves as interviewer and interviewee, discussing the influences, experiences, and projects that have shaped their approach to the architecture of place.

The Architecture of Place series is a collaboration between the ICAA, , and .

In this installment of the winter 2025-2026 Architecture of Place series, Clunie Fretton interviews Robbie Kerr.

As Design Director at ADAM Architecture, Robbie Kerr has his own distinct portfolio, designing a variety of projects including new private homes in the UK and overseas, the restoration of historic buildings, and new housing developments. He is developing his own design ethos and interpretation of the Classical architecture principles in all his projects. Robbie is developing the practice’s presence in London and overseas – with projects in countries such as Cuba, Nigeria, Morocco and Hong Kong.

Robbie became the youngest ever ADAM director in 2016. He is keen to learn from the broader international understanding of tradition and classical architecture. Robbie is becoming a significant contributor to architecture debates, in particular the increasing acceptance of classical and traditional architecture within the wider architecture arena; and is also an active member of a number of architecture organisations and charities.

Presented as part of The Richard H. Driehaus Curricula for the Built Environment at the Â鶹AV & Art. The ICAA is very grateful to The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation for its generous support of this program.
